The DHA will now accept IELTS One Skill Retake
The English Language requirements is one of the main aspects for visas relating to study or employment in Australia. A positive change has been brought about by The Department of Home Affairs as it will now accept IELTS test results that include One Skill Retake for immigration purposes. It is available for certain test takers as of December 14, 2022.

This new feature called One Skill Retake (OSR) has been created by the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). If you recently took an IELTS test, the OSR will permit test takers to retake one of the four exam components in either reading, writing, speaking, or listening if they don’t achieve the required score on their first attempt (one only).
Previously, a test taker had to retake the entire test for all four modules if they didn’t receive the score they were hoping for.
This pilot project has just been introduced in Australia by the IELTS authority for a select group of exam takers and it is currently only being offered at a select few test centres in major Australian cities. A point to be noted as provided by the DHA is that it will not be available for applications for subclasses 476, 482, and 485, which need scores from a single sitting/attempt.

Retake is valid for PTE test or not?
Hi Meet
PTE has not announced a single module retake yet.
If and once they do, this concession may be applicable to PTE too but it is not as of now.
Hope this helps.

Is this valid for subclass 186TRT?
Hi Yu
From 14 December 2022, IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) has been made available for certain test takers by the Department.
OSR allows test takers to retake one of the four test components in either reading, writing, speaking or listening (once only).
However, at the time of writing this, although the OSR update has been provided on the Home Affairs website, it is not yet in the migration legislations and there would be risk associated in providing a required English score taken via OSR for certain visa subclasses.
Should you wish to discuss this further, please organize a One-on-One Consultation with one of our RMAs here:

Hope this helps and look forward to assisting you.
Thankyou!!
