BREAKING: Australia State and Territory Nominated Visa allocations – 2022-23

The Department of Home Affairs of Australia has announced the Migration Program Planning Levels for 2022-23. Skilled immigration stream has been given the highest number of immigration quota as the main focus of the Government is on improving the productive capacity of the economy and fill skill shortages in the labor market, including those in regional Australia. The total number of immigration quota that has been announced is 160,000 wherein majority of the places in the program are in the Skill stream of 109,900.
State nomination enables the state government to nominate highly skilled migrants to meet Australia’s skills needs and can assist skilled and business migrants qualify for their Australian visa.
Following is the composition of 2022-23 Migration Program:
- Skill stream (109,900 places): It is designed to attract migrants who make a significant contribution to the Australian economy, and fill positions where no Australian workers are available.
- Family stream (50,000 places): It is made up of Partner visas, enabling Australians to reunite with family members from overseas and provide them with pathways to citizenship.
- Special Eligibility stream (100 places): It covers visas for those in special circumstances, including permanent residents returning to Australia after a period overseas.
According to 2022-2023 Migration Program, nomination allocations are made available to States and Territories for the categories:
- Skilled β Nominated (subclass 190)
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491)
- Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) has been set aside.
The State and Territory Nomination is required for Subclass 190 Skilled Nominated Permanent Visa and Subclass 491 Regional Skilled (Provisional) Sponsored Visa.
