How your Partner or Spouse can add 5 points to your overall points score in Skilled Migration Visas
Spouse/partner skills and qualifications
If the applicant’s spouse/partner is included on the visa application, and is not an Australian resident/citizen, their skills can count towards the points total. In order to gain points the spouse/partner must meet the Australian General Skilled Migration basic requirements (listed above) for age, English language proficiency, and nominated occupation.
You can claim 5 points if your partner meets the following requirements:
- Age under 45 years
- Competent English Language Ability
- an occupation that is listed on the DHA skilled occupations list as per the main applicant’s nominated occupation
You cannot gain these points if your partner is–
- Not included on your visa application;
- An Australian citizen;
- An Australian Permanent Resident
