Australian Government declares Health Examination Waiver for Temporary Visa Applicants
In a recent announcement by The Department of Home Affairs, it was said, βEligible temporary visa applicants in Australia will not be required to undertake medical examinations and chest x-rays in order to meet the health requirement.β
This means that the Temporary Visa Applicants already in Australia will not be required to take the health examination for Australian visa. This arrangement by the DHA also applies to future onshore Temporary Visa Applicants such as Temporary Work visa subclass 401 and 403, Temporary Skill Shortage visa subclass 482, Temporary Graduate visa subclass 485, Visitor visa subclass 600, etc.

There are certain specifications based on which the temporary visa applicants are required to undertake the medical examination such as the type of visa they are applying for, the level of tuberculosis in their country, how long they plan to stay in Australia etc., all are to be considered by the DHA.
For existing medical appointments made by current onshore temporary visa applicants, the Departmentβs contracted medical services will contact them for cancellation of appointments and refunds if required.
This temporary change will be reviewed by the Australian Government in the early 2023 for assessment.
