State and Territory Nomination Allocations:
The Migration Program allows states and territories in Australia to nominate eligible applicants for certain visa categories. These categories include:
- Skilled – Nominated (subclass 190): This is a permanent visa for skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian state or territory government. It allows visa holders to live and work in Australia as permanent residents.
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) (subclass 491): This is a provisional visa for skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian state or territory government or sponsored by an eligible family member living in a designated regional area. It allows visa holders to live, work, and study in designated regional areas of Australia for five years and provides a pathway to permanent residency.
Each state and territory in Australia have its own specific criteria for assessing and nominating eligible applicants for these visas. This means that the requirements and eligibility can vary depending on the jurisdiction.

Multi-Year Planning Model:
From 2025-26, the program will adopt a multi-year planning model, extending the planning horizon to four years, aligning migration planning with infrastructure, housing, and services planning.
